Well, Harry & Potter connects me slightly differently to my focused 🚴♂️ ride today. Apparently the Glenfinnan Viaduct is linked to fantasy around Harry Potter but my connection goes rather back to work in South Korea and a lovely dog 🐕🦺 named Potter.
Today‘s focus ride covered one of the famous Slate Islands – Easdale. It not only used to be the center of the Scottish slate industry for almost three centuries (!) but still, until today, remains the smallest of the inhabited Inner Hebrides Islands.
A more than remarkable international event taking place here are the World Stone Skimming Championships 😅 hosted every year, in September.
We got into Oban just before the forecasted rain front, gusting 25kn, started to pass through. Even had time for a short but wet walk into town.
Once back on the boat a very friendly armada of sailing boats came in, all part of the Weekly Highland Yachting Week – its 75th anniversary. About 100 boats need to find space. Two of them have now moored alongside ourselves! It will get busy in the Pub!
