Boating & Biking Adventures

Safe & Solid

The peak of the storm shall be within the next 24 hours. Some areas in town are flooded. Boat access is cut off.
Troll-Oh keeps shaking a bit now and then but nothing serious. I have retightened the prop stands to balance out the weight including the wheels. Pop-top roof is closed. Handbrake is on.

…gusts up to 10 Bft…

It is storm time. Although it‘s an easterly wind, it is not Siberian cold, luckily. Up to know, Troll-Oh stands solid as a rock with minor shakes now and then. I am damned relieved that the lady is out of the water.

…Transition completed…

After two busy days we have completed the transfer starting to get used to our new environment.

Troll-Oh will have its 30 years anniversary next May but has been kept in super mint conditions by Christa & Martin for more than 20 years after I took it over 7 years ago. Build in solid quality at that time rather than new plastic age what you see at nowadays caravan exhibitions.

It is equipped with fridge, gas stove cooker with two burners, central heating, etc., much more many people would dream of but much less the lady is able to provide.

While dishy is doing its job at 170Mbps (!) keeping Susan happy @ work I will proceed with the boat work to get ready for future adventures.

☝️…new arrivals…😀

Susan arrived together with our Troll-Oh, which will be our home for the next couple of weeks.👍

…early sundowner…

I decided for an early sundowner as my To-Do-List-Before-Haul-Out looks pretty manageable by now and the cockpit view simply invites to absorb the scenery.

Unfortunately the weather will not stay like this.

Surprise visitors !

I was in the final stages enjoying one of my rare midday naps, when suddenly someone knocked on the boat calling my name. Although the voices sounded familiar, it still took me ages to regain full consciousnes until it became crystal clear, Elke and Ulli are here. What a nice surprise, a lot to catch up!

Back in Kappeln

I cannot deny a pinch of regret and sadness being around while fixing the lines in Kappeln today. Preparation for winterizing and haul out in a weeks time has fully taken over. Making use of the sunny weather I dried the foresail to store it away in dry conditions.

Coming week shall be busy.

…final sunrise @ sea…

Ambient outside temperature showed 8.8°C this morning. A light breeze added a bit of a chill factor during my morning shower at the transom.😰

🙋‍♂️The journey has finished⛵️

We have passed the pinhole entrance into the Schlei Fjord after a pleasant sail and dropped the ⚓️. Exactly at this place we started our journey towards the Atlantic on 14th June 2021.

Time to celebrate over a good glas of Whisky, or two – no cigar this time!

…20 odd miles to go…

We have now finally left Sønderborg to get a bit closer to our place for winter storage in Kappeln. I am tempted to drop the anchor for a final night at sea, at the same place where our Atlantic adventure started on 14th June 2021. Almost two and a half years ago. Let‘s see when we get into the Schlei Fjord.

The time in Sønderborg was governed by boat work and dolce vita. Muck out was high on the list and a lot of stuff went into the bin or got sold so that I ended up to pack 8 parcels for dispatch upon arrival in Kappeln.

I will keep enjoying this low pace arrival and transition.
