Back together @ MusaBarBistro in PDC. SY malwieder with Inge and Ralf arrived from Gibraltar!

📚…library exchange…📚

You can see from the quality of the covers that some years have passed between Tristan Jones and Boris Herrmann – around 50 years in time  between these two highly inspiring sailors.
I could not stop reading last night and finished Boris early this morning. This is not only because I have a limited subscription period from SY Geronimo’s library but also the fascination Boris creates while taking you onboard of his recent journey.
Tristan was one of my early reads and I am still a great fan of his crazy adventures. It is demonstrated by having five of his books stored in the library on SY Hullu Poro. Well, currently four of them are under subscription to Rainer, skipper of SY Geronimo. A kind of exchange program between the racer and the dreamer!

🙋‍♂️…my current neighbours…

Feels like a week since Corinna and Rainer from SY Geronimo arrived here in Puerto Calero but actually it is only a few days. Not sure what that tells me but its nice to catch up and spend some quality time together.

One of the million subjects is a Hydrogenerator as we all need to think more green. You can see the SailingGen, one of the models in this market. It is now under order and soon SY Hullu Poro will not only shine with a Hydrovane but also a Hydrogen at its stern to support batterie charge on its max during upcoming longer passages.

Keeping this blog alive once under sail needs power! 😉

Liberty 1886 – Didier Bovard

I met Didier the other day when I saw a tiny little boat at the end of our pontoon here in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Walked over trying to eliminate my suspicion and in fact it turned opposite – my suspicion substantiated while listening to his story.

Didier had finally thrown the lines but by chance he turned up in Las Galletas, where we met him again while visiting our friend Rainer from SY Geronimo. The trip over there took him almost 24 hours and he decided for another stop in the South of Tenerife to wait for more favourable weather before heading over to New York/United States.

It is a crazy adventure and hard to imagine for an outsider what it means to cross the Atlantic Ocean in such a tiny little paddling boat.

I love Didier’s paintings!

Fair winds…& Bon voyage Didier !

Trans-Ocean e.V. Spirit

Irene and Peter arrived with their Outremer 55 named Zapoli in Las Palmas at 4am in the morning and the Marinero on duty directed them to the anchorage in front of the marina, despite heavy wind and swell at that time. Not a surprise as allocation of berth appears a bit arbitrary now and then in this marina.

After two days at anchor finally a free spot in the marina was allocated and now help needed to transfer the boat from its choppy anchorage to a relaxed berth inside the marina. Rainer, Thomas & myself were picked up by Peter with the dinghy to help on board of this vast catamaran to ensure a smooth manoeuvre and transition.

All went well and a peaceful night is granted after this truly shared supportive spirit within the Trans-Ocean e.V. community.
