After a very peaceful and quite night it was time for me to move back to Lerkil to get the upholstery job completed by end of the week.
The scenery is changing quickly once you get the first 6nm along the Göta älv behind you, back in the skerries. I did wait a bit in the morning to catch the outgoing tide, which gave me an extra knot for the first hour.
The devil turned up as predicted but has lost its teeth by now. Some of the gusts close to 50kn were extremely aggressive. Plenty of mooring lines kept the lady in reasonable control being tempted to Rock ‘n’ Roll now and then. Glad I came here, good shelter and no swell.
It was an interesting 20nm passage today from rural Lerkil into the city center of Gothenburg, where Lilla Bommen Marina is conveniently located. It was good practicing sailing through the skerries, while there is very little traffic at this time of the season.
My motivation for the move was driven by the gale which kicks in tomorrow morning 4am. 50kn of wind is not all fun. I will be up, that’s a given.
After trying some different methods it was finally brutal but sensitive force, which slowly broke the glue behind the backrest at the navy table seat. All other parts were done in one hour plus but this little nasty beast gave us a challenge.
Some damaged wood in a non visible area will be left and the newly upholstered backrest will be fixed with Velcro straps, also applied on younger Hallberg-Rassys.
The upholstery job will take at least a week and this works perfectly with the forecasted gales going through bringing some strong winds.
Over a beer I have been told by Samy that this is a crazy popular area during summer peak season due to its vicinity to Gothenburg. Samy is not only operating the local restaurant but also the Gästhamn. He came out to take my lines upon arrival despite drizzling rain. Great service!
Besides some boat work I will find time to explore the area.
It will be an early night after four intensive days at sea.
It was a night under fire and we could see the white, green and red sector at the same time.🧐 Must be one of the many attributes of Torekov, that you can berth that close to a lighthouse. Due to the fact that it was not flashing or blinking we got very decent sleep and are already off again to the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen.
To arrive in the right mood, Ulli, skipper SY Christina, shared a link with us. We are all set now! 😅
