🚴‍♂️…Ellös…🚴‍♂️

The ice on the teak deck could not stop me from going to Ellös to see the nurse in the local medical center. Two cuts in my fingers were not healing for the last ten days, rather getting worse, and needed some professional treatment.

While being there I fixed my appointment at HR Parts for later this week.

Slippery when frozen

The early birds woke me up crying and screaming and I am not sure its the outside ambient temperature or any social dispute they were fighting out amongst themselves. Might be none of the two. Once I am up they are quite!

However, another night slightly below freezing. The seawater currently at 6°C becomes a heating source over night so that we maintain 12°C inside the boat until I crawl out of the sleeping bag and turn on the central heating system. It then becomes cosy and warm quickly.

Mollösund – Orust

After almost 10 hours I have moored in Mollösund, a small old fishing village on the island of Orust.

Out of the 40nm, there were 20nm under sail, 10nm under motor sail and 1o under engine only as the wind ceased  almost completely towards the end. Similar to that the weather kept playing with us as well, from sunshine to heavy clouds, a shower after we got the lines fixed, some swell rolling in.

A day in the skerries I will remember!

🚴‍♂️…Särö…🚴‍♂️

While the sunshine invites for short bike rides during the days, the nights are still cold. Last three nights we were just at the edge of zero with some hoarfrost on Bimini and teak in the early morning hours. One morning I landed on my butt while leaving the cockpit. Luckily nothing happened.🍀

Coming night will add a scoop on it (-2°C forecasted) and I drained the shower tap at the stern bathing platform and put dishy into automatic snow melting mode, just to be on the safe side.😅

It should get a bit warmer from tomorrow onwards!

New Upholstery

Exactly one month after being lifted back into the water another project got completed yesterday late afternoon – new upholstery.

It has been done by the same company, which did it 22 years ago when Hullu Poro was born – Torsten Pettersson Båt & Heminredning AB. They do all new Hallberg-Rassys since many decades. Actually, not only the same company but the same team. Mattias is running the show nowadays but founder & father Torsten had to step in and help out as the critical sewing staff was on medical leave. All respect and thanks to the 8X year old man adding 60 years of dedicated experience in workmanship to our beauty.

Job well done to the highest quality standards. Perfect in look & feel!

🚴‍♂️…Gottskär…🚴‍♂️

I am trying to get back into my routine, which shall include biking. It’s still fresh air but a parcel to Germany had to get despatched from Onsala, the closest DHL Service Point. A good motivation to get into the saddle. Obviously the sun helps and Gottskär was on my list anyway, a marina Susan and myself visited on our maiden voyage in 2003 while bringing our first Hallberg-Rassy home from Ellös.

Getting Starlink Dishy on 12V power supply is the next project.

Lerkil North

It was time to explore Lerkil a bit as I have not seen anything except the marina since we are in Sweden.

My walk took me through the surroundings accompanied by some excellent sunshine, which was putting the skerries into the well known framework well known for Sweden.

I believe we deserve some decent weather now. It might be a good time to get the bike 🚴‍♂️ out?!?
