Dear all, imagine, you work for your dream project all your life, ups and downs on the way, but you never give up and finally…you are only 90 nautical miles away from the finish line after passing 24’000 miles in toughest conditions…and murphy’s law kicks into your destiny! This happened last night to our Trans-Ocean e.V. member Boris Herrmann when he smashed into a Fishing Trawler for whatever reasons while participating in the Vendee Globe – the ultimate race for sailors around the globe. It is heartbreaking but the good news is that nobody got injured during this disaster and he could still finish the race on his own but became only 5th on the ranking while he was fighting for ultimate victory before the crash happened. In any case Boris has writing sailing history and took us on an 81 days journey around the world with perfect media presentation. Well done. Thank you! Fair winds… Bernd
Dear all, the fisherman moored at around 9am and we were a queue of about 10 customers. He did not catch too much and restricted first in the queue from buying the whole catch of the day with the argument that he needs to distribute among all of us! 😅 I was fourth in the row and got a turbot, which was my preference, right size for one person. As the fish was the main part of the dish I opted for baking it in the oven together with some sweet potatoes and bell pepper vegetables. There was some cod, herring and plaices but turbot is a noble fish with a slightly sweet and nutty taste. It was delicious. Fair winds… Bernd
Dear all, I am again and again astonished by the changing architecture here in this town. Flensburg is definitely a multi-cultural city with quite some history and very good infrastructure for sailors – in summer as well as in winter. Fair winds… Bernd
