Arrival @ Boulogne-sur-Mer

Approaching conditions at the entrance to the harbour - sticky fog.
Shortly after within the inner harbour...it was another interesting day on the water today.

La vie française…🇫🇷

After an exciting night sail through some of the busiest and most challenging waterways in the world we arrived tired but safely and happy in Dunkerque today.

It was a hard night…

Dear all,
imagine, you work for your dream project all your life, ups and downs on the way, but you never give up and finally…you are only 90 nautical miles away from the finish line after passing 24’000 miles in toughest conditions…and murphy’s law kicks into your destiny!
This happened last night to our Trans-Ocean e.V. member Boris Herrmann when he smashed into a Fishing Trawler for whatever reasons while participating in the Vendee Globe – the ultimate race for sailors around the globe.
It is heartbreaking but the good news is that nobody got injured during this disaster and he could still finish the race on his own but became only 5th on the ranking while he was fighting for ultimate victory before the crash happened.
In any case Boris has writing sailing history and took us on an 81 days journey around the world with perfect media presentation. Well done. Thank you!
Fair winds…
Bernd
